New Market Kitchen proving popular – come and check it out!

24 August 2010

From curious six year old children, to seasoned weekly shoppers, our new Market Kitchen is proving popular for a wide range of market-goers. Launched back in June and held on the first Saturday of each month, we’ve now successfully held the first three Market Kitchens to audiences who’ve filled our stands to see what our resident ‘Four Chef’s and their apprentices will create next. Through the Four Chefs Apprentice Development Program, 6 – 8 apprentices browse the Market for fresh ingredients, talk to the stallholders about what’s in season and create inspiring menus in front of the live market audience – and all under the watchful eye of the chefs of course!

People have been coming specifically for the Market Kitchen to see delicious meals come together from the raw ingredients to the plate, and some lucky people even get to taste! Afterwards they browse the market, pick up the same produce used by the chefs and leave with a bag full of fresh groceries ready to take on the challenge back at home. Upcoming Market Kitchens will be held on 4 September and 2 October 2010, so if you haven’t been before come and check it out.

STOP PRESS: Congratulations to Tom Moore, one of our Four Chefs who was just named co-winner of the 'Electrolux Young Restaurateur of the Year 2010' for Australia. An amazing accomplishment and we are proud to support Tom on his journey as he continues to raise the bar and set the gold medal standard in our local food industry.
